Welcome to my Portfolio!

I am Sidratul Muntaha, an international Mechanical Engineering student at The City College of New York from Bangladesh. In this portfolio for English 110 (Freshman Composition), I will share by best works of the course and a reflection on how each of them was accompanied by dedication and brought betterment in my writing skills. Everyone will have a great insight to my progress for what I did in this class in the Fall 2020 semester. A fraction of it will also consist of some of my thoughts about taking the course from another part of the world (Bangladesh), during the global Covid-19 pandemic.

I have chased my aspirations of becoming an engineer ever since I reached high-school. My enthusiasm in Math and Physics, plus my science background in Cambridge GCE (General Certificate Education) drives me. However, since childhood, I have held on to an intimate connection with literature and, somehow, writing became my side passion over the years. Maybe being an engineering major and having Bengali as the first language aren’t widely expected to go very well with great dexterity in writing, but maybe we must all believe everyone should have at least one passion other than those related to their main academics. The latter is my aim – to improve and become more adept in writing. English 110 has been an important step for me in that regard, it’s not only a mere English college course, but a space for me to be creative and write.
